ITENERARY

A Day Trekking Adventure from Siem Reap to the Hidden Temples of the Jungle

Trekking at Phnom Kulen National Park

The journey begins early in the morning with a hotel pickup in Siem Reap at 7:30 a.m., as travelers prepare for an exciting day of trekking and temple exploration. After breakfast, the tour heads north through the peaceful Cambodian countryside, passing rice fields and small villages before reaching Svay Leur, the gateway to the Kulen mountain region.

Upon arrival at the foothills, the adventure continues with a short but refreshing 20-minute uphill trek through the forest. The trail leads to the ancient site of Perng Komnou, a sacred place connected to the reign of Jayavarman II, the founder of the Khmer Empire. Surrounded by nature and far from crowded tourist areas, visitors can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere while learning about Cambodia’s early history and spiritual traditions.

After the morning trek, the group stops at a local restaurant for lunch, providing time to relax and recharge before continuing the journey.

Exploring the Jungle Ruins of Beng Mealea

In the afternoon, the tour proceeds to Beng Mealea Temple, one of Cambodia’s most mysterious and untouched temples. Hidden deep in the jungle and surrounded by a massive moat measuring approximately 900 by 1,200 meters, Beng Mealea offers a completely different experience from the more famous temples in the Angkor area.

Here, travelers explore the temple’s collapsed galleries, moss-covered stones, and ancient corridors overtaken by trees. The natural setting creates a quiet and magical atmosphere, allowing visitors to imagine how the temple looked centuries ago. Walking through the ruins feels like stepping into a lost city, where history and nature exist together in harmony.

As the day comes to an end, the group returns to Siem Reap in the late afternoon, bringing back unforgettable memories of trekking, culture, and hidden temples.
