Day 1 – Early Angkor Heritage & The Jewel of Banteay Srei

The journey begins with a step back in time to the cradle of the Angkor civilization at the Roluos Group. Here, the elegant brick towers of Preah Ko stand as a tribute to royal ancestors, while the imposing pyramid structure of Bakong represents one of the earliest temple-mountains of the Khmer Empire. Nearby, Lolei, once built on an island within a vast reservoir, reveals the ingenuity of early Khmer engineering.

The morning continues with a visit to the magnificent Banteay Srei, often called the “Citadel of Women.” Carved from delicate pink sandstone, its intricate floral motifs and mythological scenes are considered the finest in Cambodia. The journey then leads to Banteay Samre, a beautifully restored temple reflecting the classical architectural style of Angkor Wat.

After lunch at a local restaurant, the afternoon unfolds at Pre Rup, a striking mountain temple offering sweeping countryside views. The day concludes with visits to Prasat Kravan, famous for its unique brick carvings of Vishnu, and the peaceful monastic complex of Banteay Kdei, where quiet corridors whisper stories of centuries past.

Day 2 – The Lost Capital of Koh Ker & Jungle Temple Adventure

Today’s adventure ventures deep into the Cambodian countryside to the remote archaeological site of Koh Ker, once the capital of the Khmer Empire under King Jayavarman IV. Surrounded by forest, the dramatic pyramid of Prasat Thom rises above the trees, offering a glimpse into a powerful but short-lived era of Angkor history.

Scattered throughout the area are fascinating temples such as Prasat Pram, where tree roots embrace ancient brick towers, along with other sanctuaries that highlight the grandeur of this former royal city.

After lunch, the journey continues to Beng Mealea, a mysterious jungle temple partially reclaimed by nature. Massive stones lie scattered beneath thick vegetation, creating a true “lost world” atmosphere and offering one of the most adventurous temple explorations in Cambodia.

Day 3 – The Wonders of Angkor

The day begins at the iconic Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world. Its grand three-tiered pyramid crowned by five lotus-shaped towers rises majestically above the surrounding moat. Intricate bas-reliefs depict epic tales from Hindu mythology, reflecting the artistic brilliance of the Khmer Empire.

Entering through the monumental South Gate of Angkor Thom, visitors encounter the enigmatic smiles of Bayon, where giant stone faces gaze serenely in all directions. The massive Baphuon stands nearby, a grand temple-mountain that has undergone one of the most complex restorations in history.

The exploration continues along the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King, once used for royal ceremonies. In the afternoon, the atmospheric jungle temple of Ta Prohm, famously featured in Tomb Raider, captivates visitors with giant tree roots entwined around ancient walls.

Day 4 – Sacred Mountain & Waterfall Escape

A refreshing escape awaits at Phnom Kulen National Park, considered the birthplace of the Khmer Empire. At Kbal Spean, sacred carvings etched into the riverbed bless the flowing waters. A 16th-century reclining Buddha rests peacefully atop the mountain, offering panoramic forest views.

The highlight of the day is the 27-meter-high waterfall, where visitors can relax or swim in cool natural pools. Returning to Siem Reap, the city tour includes a visit to Preah Ang Chek Preah Ang Chorm Shrine and the fascinating sight of fruit bats gathering at dusk.

Day 5 – Life on Tonle Sap & Cultural Traditions

Today offers insight into rural Cambodian life at Tonle Sap Lake, Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake. A wooden boat ride reveals the remarkable floating and stilted homes of Kompong Kleang, where communities adapt to dramatic seasonal water changes.

A traditional Buddhist monk blessing follows, symbolizing good fortune and protection. The experience concludes with a relaxing traditional Khmer massage, offering a peaceful end to a culturally rich day.

Day 6 – Colonial Charm & Countryside of Battambang

A scenic drive leads to Battambang, known for its charming French colonial architecture and relaxed riverside atmosphere. A ride on the famous Battambang Bamboo Train provides a unique and entertaining glimpse into local innovation.

In the late afternoon, visitors climb Phnom Sampeau, where a hilltop temple overlooks the countryside. At sunset, thousands of bats stream dramatically from caves in a breathtaking natural spectacle.

Day 7 – History & Return to Siem Reap

The final day explores the cultural and historical landmarks of Battambang. Wat Samrong Knong stands as both a sacred temple and a reminder of Cambodia’s tragic past during the Khmer Rouge era. The hilltop Banan Temple, built in the 11th century, rewards visitors with panoramic countryside views after climbing its steep staircase.

After visiting the Former Provincial Governor’s Building and enjoying a short city tour, the journey concludes with a return drive to Siem Reap, carrying unforgettable memories of Cambodia’s ancient wonders, cultural richness, and natural beauty.
