Day 1 – Arrival in Phnom Penh

The journey begins in Cambodia’s lively capital, Phnom Penh. Travelers arrive throughout the day and settle into the rhythm of the city, where French colonial buildings, bustling streets, and riverfront promenades set the tone for the adventure ahead. In the evening, the group gathers for a welcome meeting, meeting their tour leader and fellow travelers while learning about the route that will unfold over the next two weeks.

Day 2 – Phnom Penh’s History and Culture

Today dives deep into Cambodia’s recent past with a guided visit to Tuol Sleng Prison and the Choeung Ek Killing Fields two powerful sites that tell the story of the Khmer Rouge era. The experience is moving and educational, offering important historical context. Later, travelers may choose to explore Phnom Penh’s lighter side by visiting the Royal Palace, the National Museum, or wandering through the colorful stalls of Central Market.

Day 3 – Phnom Penh to Battambang

Leaving the capital behind, the journey heads northwest to Battambang, a charming riverside town known for its colonial architecture and artistic community. The road trip reveals changing scenery from urban sprawl to open countryside and rice fields. Upon arrival, the rest of the day is relaxed, with optional exploration of nearby villages and rural landscapes.

Day 4 – Battambang to Siem Reap

The route continues toward Siem Reap, gateway to Cambodia’s most famous ancient wonders. Anticipation builds as travelers approach the former seat of the Khmer Empire. By evening, plans are made for early mornings and temple-filled days ahead, as the group prepares to explore the legendary Angkor Wat complex.

Day 5 – Sunrise at Angkor & Temple Exploration

Before dawn, the group heads to Angkor Wat to witness a spectacular sunrise, when the temple’s iconic spires glow against the early morning sky. After this unforgettable moment, the day continues with a full guided exploration of the Angkor Archaeological Park, visiting many of the temples in the area. Travelers admire the intricate carvings, ancient galleries, and spiritual symbolism of Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple, Ta Prohm, and other historic sites, all surrounded by lush jungle and centuries-old stone. This immersive experience offers both awe and reflection, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the grandeur and history of the Khmer Empire.

Day 6 – Beng Mealea & Kampong Phluk (Tonlé Sap Lake)

Today takes travelers beyond the main Angkor temples to explore two fascinating sites in the Siem Reap countryside. The morning begins with a visit to Beng Mealea, a mysterious jungle-covered temple where collapsed corridors, tree roots, and scattered stone blocks create an adventurous atmosphere reminiscent of early Angkor exploration.

In the afternoon, the journey continues to Kampong Phluk, a traditional stilted village on the edge of Tonlé Sap Lake. Here, travelers gain insight into local life as they see tall wooden houses rising above floodplains and waterways. A boat trip across the lake reveals floating homes, fishing activities, and wide open wetlands, offering a peaceful contrast to the morning’s temple ruins before returning to Siem Reap in the evening.

Day 7 – Siem Reap to Kratié

The adventure shifts east toward Kratié, a peaceful Mekong River town known for its rare wildlife. Day 8 – Kratié to Kampong Cham

Day 9 – Kampong Cham to Kampot

The road leads toward Cambodia’s southern countryside and the relaxed riverside town of Kampot. With Bokor National Park nearby, the area feels cooler and greener, surrounded by mountains and pepper fields. The evening is unhurried, perfect for strolling along the riverfront or enjoying the town’s laid-back atmosphere.

Day 10 – Leisure in Kampot

A full free day allows travelers to shape their own adventure. Some may head to Rabbit Island for beach time, while others sample the world-famous Kampot pepper or travel to Kep for fresh seafood by the sea. It is a gentle pause in the itinerary ideal for relaxing, eating well, and enjoying coastal scenery.

Day 11 – Kampot to Koh Rong

From the countryside to the coast, the group transfers to Sihanoukville and boards a boat bound for Koh Rong. White sand beaches and turquoise water greet everyone upon arrival. After checking in, there is time for a refreshing swim, followed by a relaxed drink on the shore as the sun sinks into the ocean.

Day 12 – Island Life on Koh Rong

Today is all about slowing down and embracing island living. Travelers can swim, lounge on the beach, or choose activities such as hiking through jungle trails, kayaking along the coast, or trying local fishing. On certain nights, the sea glows with blue light from phosphorescent plankton, creating a magical natural spectacle for those who venture into the water after dark.

Day 13 – Koh Rong to Phnom Penh

Leaving paradise behind, the group returns by boat to the mainland and travels back to Phnom Penh. A cyclo tour through the capital provides a fun and gentle way to see the streets from a new angle. Free time afterward allows for last-minute shopping, café visits, or riverside walks before the journey concludes.

Day 14 – Departure from Phnom Penh

The adventure comes to an end as travelers depart Phnom Penh at any time. After two weeks filled with temples, history, wildlife, countryside, and tropical beaches, Cambodia leaves a lasting impression of warmth, resilience, and unforgettable landscapes.
