ITENERARY

Day 1 – Arrival in Siem Reap
Arrive in Siem Reap and settle into your hotel. Take it easy on your first day and explore the town at a relaxed pace. Visit the Angkor National Museum to understand the history of the Khmer Empire, then head to the APOPO Landmine-Clearing Centre to learn about Cambodia’s efforts in humanitarian work. Enjoy your first dinner in town, sampling local Khmer cuisine, and rest to prepare for temple exploration.

Day 2 – Angkor Temples & Khmer Culture
Start early with the iconic sunrise at Angkor Wat, the world’s largest religious monument. Spend the day visiting the major temples within Angkor Archaeological Park, including Bayon, known for its smiling stone faces, Baphuon, and Preah Khan. In the afternoon, join a Khmer cooking class, learning how to prepare traditional Cambodian dishes. In the evening, watch the Phare Circus, a thrilling performance combining acrobatics, theater, and Cambodian storytelling.

Day 3 – More Angkor Temples & Museums
Continue your temple tour with the smaller, yet equally stunning sites like Ta Prohm, famous for giant tree roots growing over the ruins, Banteay Kdei, and the intricately carved Banteay Srei. Later, visit the Landmine Museum to learn about Cambodia’s recent history and the resilience of its people.

Day 4 – Travel to Battambang
Travel from Siem Reap to Battambang via bus, private transfer, or scenic river ferry. Explore the charming provincial town, visit local art galleries, and enjoy lunch in a riverside café. Experience the Bamboo Train, a fun and unique local mode of transport running along rural tracks, for an unforgettable Battambang experience.

Day 5 – Battambang Countryside Tour
Spend the day exploring the countryside surrounding Battambang. Visit Banan Temple, perched atop a hill, and Phnom Sampov, known for its caves and panoramic views. Along the way, see rural village life, rice paddies, and traditional farming, offering a glimpse into Cambodia’s slower, traditional way of life.

Day 6 – Battambang to Phnom Penh
Travel to Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s vibrant capital. Spend the afternoon visiting the Royal Palace, home of the King, and the National Museum, showcasing Khmer art and culture. End the day with a peaceful riverfront walk and try local street food at the lively night markets.

Day 7 – Phnom Penh History & Museums
Delve into Cambodia’s modern history with visits to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21) and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek. Gain insight into the tragic era of the Khmer Rouge while reflecting on the country’s resilience. In the evening, explore local markets and enjoy authentic Khmer dishes.

Day 9 – Optional Day Trips or Extra Phnom Penh Activities
Take an optional excursion to nearby villages or craft centers to see local artisans at work. Alternatively, spend the day exploring additional museums, relaxing in cafés, or shopping for souvenirs in the city. Enjoy more opportunities to taste local Khmer food and interact with friendly locals.
