A trip up Bokor Mountain is one of those experiences that stays with you long after it’s over. With a friendly, knowledgeable driver guide leading the way, you slowly make your way up the winding mountain road toward the highest peak in southern Cambodia. The air gets cooler, the views wider, and the forest thicker as you climb higher.

You’ll pause at a few scenic viewpoints along the way, stepping out into the fresh mountain air to take in the rainforest stretching endlessly below. It’s peaceful up there just the sound of the wind and the calls of distant birds. As you continue upward, the tour gently shifts from nature to history. Your guide will bring you to the Black Palace, the abandoned residence once built for the Cambodian king. The building, weathered and covered in moss, has a mysterious charm. Walking through it feels like stepping into a forgotten chapter of history.

Not far from there stands the impressive Lok Yeay Mao statue, a spiritual guardian honored by locals and travelers alike. The mountain breeze and sweeping views from this spot make it a beautiful place to pause for photos or a moment of reflection.

Next, you’ll visit Wat Sampov Pram an old monastery perched on a cliff edge. Its ancient pagodas, open views, and quiet atmosphere make it one of the most peaceful stops on the mountain. Nearby is the old Catholic Church, a famous Bokor landmark that has stood through decades of weather and time. It’s simple, silent, and hauntingly beautiful, surrounded by mist on some days.

The journey continues to the remains of the old Bokor Hill Station, including the once-grand hotel that stands as a reminder of Cambodia’s colonial past. Walking through the old hallways gives you a vivid picture of what life might have been like on the mountain nearly a century ago.

The final stop is the mountain waterfall a refreshing, calming spot where you can enjoy the sound of rushing water and the cool mist drifting through the rocks. It’s the perfect way to end the experience before heading back down the mountain.

After exploring Bokor’s wildlife, history, and stunning views, the drive back feels peaceful and satisfying, like you’ve just uncovered a part of Cambodia that many people overlook.
