ITENERARY
Discover the charm of Battambang on this guided city and countryside tour. The experience begins when you meet your local guide and hop on a tuk-tuk to explore the city. As you travel through Battambang’s streets, your guide will share stories about the region’s history, culture, religion, agriculture, and local traditions. Along the way, you will see some of the city’s historic colonial buildings, visit the lively Central Market, pass by the Provincial Hall, and stop at the famous Ta Dambong statue, an important symbol of Battambang.
After exploring the city, the journey continues into the peaceful countryside. Here, you will discover traditional villages surrounded by rice fields and fruit plantations. You’ll cross a suspension bridge and have the chance to meet local farmers, learning more about their daily lives and agricultural practices. This part of the tour offers a wonderful glimpse into the rural lifestyle of Cambodia.
Next, you will experience one of Battambang’s most unique attractions the bamboo train. Riding on this simple yet exciting railway platform, you’ll travel through beautiful landscapes while enjoying views of the surrounding countryside.
Following the ride, you will stop for a late lunch at a local restaurant in a nearby village, where you can taste authentic Cambodian cuisine.
In the afternoon, the tour continues to Phnom Sampou, a scenic hill known for its cultural and historical significance. Here, you may try a local specialty, rat barbecue, which is popular among locals. You will then travel up the hill by motorbike or pickup truck to visit the Killing Cave, a memorial site connected to the Khmer Rouge period (1975–1979), where thousands of victims lost their lives. Your guide will explain the history and the importance of this site.
While at Phnom Sampou, you can also explore the temples, see playful monkeys around the area, and enjoy panoramic views from the mountain’s viewpoints. As the day comes to an end, you will witness one of Battambang’s most incredible natural sights at the Bat Cave, where thousands of wrinkle-lipped bats fly out of the cave at sunset.
The tour concludes with a return to your accommodation in Battambang, or if you prefer, you may finish the evening at Pomme Bar in town, bringing your day of discovery to a memorable close.
